With the addition of a custom Drell Assassin named Hel, German artist Giacomo Cameli has compiled a great collection of Mass Effect portraits.

Check out his EXTRA Happy Mordin piece here, for a good laugh.

AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. Speaking of which, I’ve been adventuring as an art director on a Warner Bros. (animated) show for the last eight months and counting- keep those eyes peeled later this year for the goods. Now, back into my cave…

Wonder Woman Redesign by Rory Phillips

About this: “I have always thought Wonder Woman should look more like a warrior, and less like a pinup. The Amazons of Classical Greek lore were from the region of Scythia. I wanted her outfit to reflect that culture and be almost ceremonial.

Meteor Hammer: I know her lasso is one of her Icons. But it comes from the lurid pseudo-bondage themes of pulp comics, and is to pinup. So I modified it to an exotic warriors weapon, a Meteor Hammer, a length of rope with weighted ends, think Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill.

Death Mask: She needs a way to protect her identity, so I gave her a Ceremonial Amazon Death Mask she could wear into battle. It would be good for headbutting too.”

“Silmarillion Chapter 4: Of Thingol and Melian”

“Then an enchantment fell on him, and he stood still still; and afar off beyond the voices of the lómelindi he heard the voice of Melian, and it filled all his heart with wonder and desire. He forgot utterly all his people and the purposes of his mind, and following the birds under the shadow of the trees he passed deep into Nan Elmoth and was lost. But he came at last to a glade open to the stars, and there Melian stood; and out of the darkness he looked at her, and the light of Aman was in her face.”

Thingol and Melian are the High King and Queen of Beleriand, and functionally all of Middle-Earth in their day.  Melian is a Maia, the race of spirits that include Sauron.  Tolkien gives very little description of her, so I decided to keep a slightly otherworldly appearance, with horns like a faun or forest spirit. She’s actually much wiser than her husband and much more joyful, so I wanted to make sure that imagery held.

Thingol is the King of the Sindar, the “Grey Elves” who stayed in Middle-Earth (though Thingol himself made the journey to Aman once).  As the tallest of the Men and Elves and one of the mightiest in battle, I wanted to keep his form larger and imposing.  Older Elves can grow beards, and I’ve decided that any male Elf who was among the first to awaken (this includes Thingol) will be sporting a beard.

 Previous Silmarillion entries:

  1. Ainulindalë - The Music of the Ainur
  2. Valaquenta - Account of the Valar and Maiar in according to the lore of the Eldar
  3. The Monsters of Middle-Earth
  4. The Free Peoples of the First Age
  5. Silmarillion Chapter 1 - Of the Beginning of Days
  6. Silmarillion Chapter 2 - Of Aulë and Yavanna
  7. Silmarillion Chapter 3 - Of the Coming of the Elves and the Captivity of Melkor

Dani Moonstar.

Talk about a character that gets SCREWED. Mutant, not a mutant, Valkyrie, not a Valkyrie. I can do this one thing with my powers…no thats boring, lets get her to do this power. Now I tote guns. *sigh* Sheesh, lady sit down and have a cup of tea.

So as far as *I* Know (thanks wiki) Dani’s been restored to Valkyrie status again, sorta. WHATEVER. THIS Dani is the Herald of Hela. Much like the Silver Surfer, Dani must answer the call of her Mistress.

Her look has pulls from Valkyrie, Sif, and Hela. The waves in her armor is to represent flight or air, the skulls for the lost dead that she must seek out, and her chest insignia is Hela’s headdress design. Of course, Dani has some of her Native American details like her feathers and the necklace. Armed with a ‘big sword’ and her bow and arrows, she’s a force to be reckoned with.

She’s even got the skull eye thing going, but you probably can’t see that.

Well, this is 100% weapons-grade badass.
